Location: Dorigny Campus, Lausanne (Switzerland) – Stunning setting by Lake Geneva with views of the Alps.

Contract Details:

  • Duration: 1 year (renewable twice for 2 years).
  • Activity Rate: 100%.

Research Focus and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will join a vibrant team developing mathematical models to explore:

  • Evolution of social traits and human behavior (preferences, cultural transmission, life history, large-scale societies, social interactions, ESS theory).
  • 70% independent research in theoretical evolutionary biology.
  • 25% teaching (lectures, supervision of master’s students).
  • 5% institutional tasks (e.g., lab equipment maintenance).

Qualifications and Skills

  • PhD in evolutionary biology, physics, mathematics, or economics.
  • Strong expertise in mathematical/computational modeling (e.g., dynamical systems, stochastic processes, control theory, game theory).
  • Interpersonal skills:
    • Collaborative mindset and effective communication.
    • Open-mindedness and ability to inspire others.
  • Language: English (working language of the department). French is not required.
